Oscar Predictions Part One

Anthony (my fellow award ceremony blogger) and I have completed our Oscar predictions. After much deliberation, we've come to a conclusion on 18 of the nominated categories.

We present the following for Part One:

Achievement in Art Direction
Changeling
The Curious Case of Benjamin Button
The Dark Knight
The Duchess
Revolutionary Road

Michael: Benjamin Button.

Anthony: Benjamin Button.

Achievement in Cinematography
Changeling
The Curious Case of Benjamin Button
The Dark Knight
The Reader
Slumdog Millionaire

Michael: Slumdog Millionaire.

Anthony: Slumdog Millionaire. With it's recent ASC award, this should be a lock.

Achievement in Film Editing
The Curious Case of Benjamin Button
The Dark Knight
Frost/Nixon
Milk
Slumdog Millionaire

Michael: The Curious Case of Benjamin Button.

Anthony: Historically, the best picture takes this prize. And with the recent ACE award, Slumdog should win this one-handed.

Achievement in Makeup
The Curious Case of Benjamin Button
The Dark Knight
Hellboy II: The Golden Army

Michael: Hellboy II: The Golden Army.

Anthony: Benjamin Button.

Achievement in Sound Editing
The Dark Knight
Iron Man
Slumdog Millionaire
WALL-E
Wanted

Michael: The Dark Knight

Anthony: The sound categories are always what kill me. Last year, I picked the loudest and most complex (Transformers) and lost to the third Bourne movie. Slumdog won the Cinema Audio Society prize, but The Dark Knight seems like it needs a win somewhere. And don't underestimate the well received Wall-E or Iron Man. I'll pick The Dark Knight, slightly.

Achievement in Sound Mixing
The Curious Case of Benjamin Button
The Dark Knight
Slumdog Millionaire
WALL-E
Wanted

Michael: The Dark Knight

Anthony: The Dark Knight, see above.
