The Positively True Adventures of an Almost Famous Writer
Oh, I adore her so much! She should have been on my sister list. Damn me for not thinking of her.
I love that picture. She is fabulous.
I think my dating standards are: are they male and do they have a pulse? And I'm flexible on the pulse part
Lol! The problem with mine is that they are too high- resulting in tremendous neurosis on my part ;)
My favorite quote is from Clueless: "You know how picky I am about my shoes, and they only go on my feet!"Though to be honest, I probably live my life closer to Bette's quote.
Don't you have to have opportunities before you can have standards?I saw Bette at the MCI Arena in DC years ago...she was of course amazing but what I remember most about that night was the my friends had the biggest smiles throughout the show and for the next few days. Pure joy.
I LOVE that picture!!!XOXOXOXO
J'adore La Midler!I live by the same rule.
ha...great quote, I may adopt it as one of my own....and the pic, well devine;)
I've always loved the devine Ms. M!
Bette. My favorite!
She is such a SassPot..timeless. My brother and BIL saw her Vegas. They are in loooove.
Could not have said it better!
Lurrrve her! She can be the wind under my wings anytime!!! oooh...I want to play with ostrich feathers now! Have a fab weekend darling Michael! ~mwahhh***
Admittedly, I came late to Bette, Babs and Friends of Dorothy, but I do so love a good, baudy quote.Love that Bette!
I agree the standars my be low, so you really have no expectation on others. I love Bette.RayPS Tell CB I have a pulse. I do understand where he is coming from.
Just so you know, I'm TOTALLY stealing this quote for my blog.
Love Bette!! Love who she was and love who she is now. Babs was on Oprah the other day talking about "famous stuff" and then just got real and started lamenting on how she scarfed pizza for lunch and would have to deal with results. Dolly is so out there and honest. Standards, shmandards... I won't judge any of them.
I always loved that quote. My standards are usually on the floor...next to me clothes!
Love the quote!Love the woman!I agree with cb!Thanks for your comment! Posts can't be that good every day unfortunately!Patrick
For a long time, when it came to men ... Bette Midler took those words right out of my mouth. lolI last saw Bette Midler in the movie 'The Women' in 2008 and SHE and nothing else, made that movie. I love her, she's fab!
When I was first aware of what Gay was, I saw Bette Midler at Uihlein Hall in Milwaukee. It was the first time I ever saw a drag queen. Barry Manilow was her pianist and Melissa Manchester was one of the Harlettes.Bette wore an apricot blouse, brown trousers and red platform wedgies in the first half, and a tight white satin dress (featured on the back of her second album) in the second. She couldn't move in the dress, so she took it off and finished the concert in a pair of black pedal pushers and a white sequined corset. She was incredible! I love her!
I love Bette. Always have, always will.Btw, I do believe I based my "10-year-marriage-that-should-have-been-a-one-night-stand" on this quote. Is it possible I may have heard it as a teenager and only now is it coming back to me as a suppressed memory??Damn you, Michael Rivers! Damn you.
My secret for standards is that I have none. Therefore I’m never disappointed.
a woman after my own heart.
Sounds kind of like my standards lol.
