Thanksgiving is a Success

My Thanksgiving was wonderful thanks to the incredible talents of the celebrity chefs and homemakers. After they finished preparing the meal, they were thrilled when I asked them to stay and enjoy their hard work. They dashed to the numerous guestrooms and freshened up before joining the gathering.

Chef Rocco DiSpirito (looking incredible in my favorite color).

Thanksgiving Week: Rachael and Chef Ramsay

Day three with the celebrity chefs and homemakers was the most tense. Everyone was stressed in trying to finish my wonderful meal. Chef Gordon Ramsay got a bit . . . um . . . annoyed with Rachael Ray.

"Chef Ramsay, I need help opening this jar?"

"Rachael, I'm terribly busy getting this ready for Mr. Rivers. Ask Rocco, Emeril, Martha or Paula for help."

"But Chef, I don't know where they are. Can you help me?"

"I'm busy! Find a way to open it!"

"Please, Chef Ramsay."

"Come here, Rachael."

Thanksgiving Week: Emeril and Martha

Day two of my week with celebrity chefs and homemakers was not without tension. I promised not to filter the work so I must share this little scene.

"Martha, I'm smiling now because Mr. Rivers has a camera on us. Please let me do my own work."

"But Emeril, I can show you a better way. Let me . . . "

"Martha, I can do it myself."

"But my way is so much better!"

Emeril had enough and said his magic word . . .

Martha couldn't fight the power of the Bam!

She left the kitchen and started to set the table, using her beautiful line from Macys (I hope she lets me keep it!).

Emeril was now alone and able to finish his dish.

"Now THIS is a good thing."

Thanksgiving Week: Rachael and Paula

My Thanksgiving week with celebrity chefs and homemakers continues. Paula Deen and Rachael Ray arrived to start their work. They did get into a bit of trouble, but Martha Stewart got them back on track!

"Paula, do you think it's okay that we're taking a break so soon?"

"Course, Rachael. We all know you can make those 30 minute meals. Don't you worry none!"

"Ladies, it is NOT a good thing to be on break already!"

Nervous laughter filled the kitchen. Paula and Rachael jumped up and got back to work!

"Rachael, just smile and work. Smile and work."

"Smile and work, Paula. Smile and work."

Thanksgiving Week: Rocco Arrives

For Thanksgiving this year, I decided to spend a week with my favorite celebrity chefs and homemakers. I hired them to make my Thanksgiving meal extra special. Each day I'll share a glimpse into their work. This morning, Chef Rocco DiSpirito arrived right on time!

"Hello, Mr. Rivers. I'm here to start cooking for you."

My favorite task-master, Martha Stewart, was on-hand to oversee the week's progress.

"Follow me, Rocco. I'll get you set up in the kitchen."

Rocco wasted no time in starting to prepare his portion of the upcoming feast! I swooned. I could watch him cook all day long!

Michael Rivers: The Blog is One!

Today is the first anniversary for Michael Rivers: The Blog. Thanks for stopping by, reading and commenting. When I started a year ago, I never expected the blog to grow in the way it has. And I never expected to meet such fun and interesting people.

You've been a great inspiration to develop my blog voice and to make this project my own. I've learned a lot about the creative process and what it takes to make an interactive and entertaining place for people to visit.

I'm looking forward to another year!

World's Fare Buffet Food Review: 37 of 52

As part of my New Year's Resolution to try 52 new restaurants, diners, coffee shops and bakeries during 2009, I present the following review.

World's Fare Buffet

Riviera Hotel
Last Vegas

Who I Went With:

What I Ate:
Variety of items at the brunch buffet.

Would I Go Back:

Worth the Price:
The price wasn't bad for a buffet, but the food quality was poor. I've gotten very spoiled in Minneapolis. There are amazing breakfast/brunch places here. At this buffet, I think the fresh fruit was the only food choice that at one time was not frozen, boxed, canned or dehydrated.

Michael Rivers Appears on Lori & Julia, Again

"Lori and Julia are talking about you," Valerie said when I answered my phone.

"What?" I asked.

"Lori and Julia are talking about you. Joan Rivers was just on their radio show and after her interview they started to talk about you. They want you to call in if you are listening."

Last February I was on Lori and Julia's Show to talk about Joan's upcoming appearance at the Mall of America. This Wednesday Joan is performing in Minneapolis so she appeared on their show for promotion.

After the interview, Lori and Julia started to talk about me and wondered if I was going to see Joan this week. What good memories ladies! I'm glad I made such a favorable impression on you.

I called into the show and when they answered I said, "This is Michael Rivers. I hear you are looking for me." We talked a few moments about Joan's upcoming show. It was a fun and unexpected.

Lori and Julia, I'll be a guest anytime you like!
