Legends I've Seen: Cyndi Lauper

Legend:
Cyndi Lauper

Number of Concerts I've Attended:
One. Cyndi opened for Cher (a future Legends I've Seen post). We had no idea what to expect from her and were blown away by her musical talents, voice and stage presence. Out of the hundreds of concerts I've seen, I believe she is the one who surprised me the most. Amazing performer.

Iconic Moment:
Cyndi singing Girls Just Wanna Have Fun.

I think, especially when she first came on the scene, people looked at her hair and clothes and never really stopped to listen to her.
Girl can sing.
She can saaaaaaaaang.

She is amazing! I still remember so vividly buying true colours when everyone else are getting Madonna's true blue! I was doing a sing along to I drove all night today lol

I love Cyndi and have now seen her close ten times including with Cher! For my birthday a few years ago, my friend got us front row seats to her True Colors tour! Not only is see an amazingly talented singer, song writer but she is one of the best friends the GLBTi has.

I've always liked Cyndi! I remember when I was a kid she was always on the wrestling shows, she's a tough chick!

There's more: She's So Unusual is one of the best albums from the 80s - even with the over-over-overplayed Girls Just Wanna Have Fun: She Bop is my favorite song in the world. "I see him everynight in tight blue jeans / in the pages of a blueboy magazine." Time After Time is freaking lovely! Money Changes Everything! And then the other singles: though the albums weren't as good: True Colors. THE only version of I Drove All Night (shut up, Celine!) you need. Love love love Cyndi!

She was great. She sang with a contestant a season ago on AI and she still got it. Love the song Time After Time (I hope that is the title).

When I saw Cher in Vegas...I cried the entire time. My husband was mortified.

Cyndi is amazing. I always felt like she had a stronger since of identity than Madonna or others who did their thing with similar zest. Every now and then, she'll appear in a random role in a movie or tv show. Still love her.

I love Cyndi! She really does have an amazing voice. I just saw her on VH1 most shocking moments in rock. Did you know she was performing in an outdoor venue and a bird flew over and popped right in her mouth? Is that not disgusting?!?!

I saw her when she opened for Cher also, on the endless never-can-say-goodbye farewell tour. She was awesome!

Her more recent stuff is terrific, too bad is ignored by radio and the rest of the world. LOVE 'the body acoustic', is one of my all-time favorite albums!

Hundreds of concerts? Dang, I'm jealous - I've only been to two - Neil Diamond and Elton John - both great, but I really need to get out more!

Sorry, my tastes in music are really only classical, semi-classical and some musicals. I don't know Cyndi!!!!

Pleased that you found some of "den cowboys" interesting. More to come (cum)!

I've yet to see her in concert, I hope to one day. I also owned She's So Unusual on vinyl, it's probably still in my old bedroom at my parents house.

Growing up, I wasn't into Cyndi Lauper but now as an adult that has completely changed. I love her best of CD!

Lucky you that you got to see her live!
