Legends I've Seen: Donna Summer

Legend:
Donna Summer

Number of Concerts I've Attended:
Two.

Iconic Moment:
Donna Summer has sold over 130 million records. The 1983 hit She Works Hard for the Money was a crowd favorite. Closing the show with the anthem, Last Dance, encouraged the audience to dance, sing and cheer. And we did.

Sigh. How many times have those lyrics gone through my mind. "Ain't I even worth a dime a dance?"

I love Donna Summer! My favorite is still "On the radio". I don' know but it brings back memories of 5th grade with my friend, Joni who was the BIGGEST Donna Summer fan.

I would love to see her in concert but still haven't.

Since our Canadian dollar is pretty much at par with your American dollar, I'd say 10 cents a dance is good value.

i envy you. Both Donna Summer & Diana Ross were my Lady Gaga/Beyonce, or Janet Jackson/Madonna of my childhood. My first vocal recital in college was barry manilow's original version of Donna Summer's song Could It Be Magic

Donna Summer is one of my ultimo!!! favourites, along with Tina Turner. That must have been thrilling.

Just think of all those legends you have seen / met - the buzz ... must have you walking on clouds weeks, no months later. Well done.

PS Michael: put a little of that buzz in a bottle and toss it over the Atlantic ... I'll try catch.:)

You saw her TWICE? That's not fair, boy! But I did see Gladys Knight, Patti LaBelle and Stephanie Mills - a trifecta Diva experience. (Of course it wasn't at the same concert. No stadium could contain THAT much diva-ness.)

Big hair, high heels and nails, nails, nails!!

My partner has seen her perform many times and finally treated me to a concert back in August 2008. Her voice just seems to get better and stronger as she ages.

I think she would be a wonderful concert to see! And I think Last Dance hands down has to be my favorite song by her! We should go see one and just queen out!

in the old days, a dime would buy you a hair trim, a foot massage and a gal to hop around town

Gosh, I never saw Donna Summer in concert; most jealous here!!!

I still shake my fanny to "Hot Stuff"...when I do household chores.

I like your blog alot. You got great style. Ill have to check out your book. What really caught my attention is that you are from MN, i have a great friend who is from there. Anyway, I started a blog about two or so weeks ago called My Big Itch. Its probably no where as "fun" and "hot" as yours, but the purpose for me writing it is to let it all hang out - especially the things going on in my life that I find it hard to talk directly to someone about. I hope you check it out www.mybigitch.blogspot.com. For some reason it helps me to know that others are relating or at least reading what I am saying.
