On Sunday, I'll be going to Judy Garland in Concert. For almost a year I've been looking forward to this show coming to Minneapolis. Tour information:
The legendary voice of Judy Garland and the world's greatest symphony orchestras join together to create this remarkable concert event. Through the magic of breakthrough technology, the incomparable performer returns to the stage!
My friend, John Fricke, was part of the creative team who put together the show. It premiered last year at the Boston Pops to rave reviews:
An astonishing achievement, both technically and artistically. The Symphony Hall audience was riveted.
The Boston Globe
For Garland fans, it was an opportunity to bask in her electrifying talent. Far from being a gimmick, this melding of technical expertise and performance gave Pops audiences an opportunity to see what Garland could do best - seduce an audience with her dynamic deliveries of many familiar songs.
Audience members can expect a concert event designed like a theatrical performance.

Number of Concerts I've Attended:
One. Cyndi opened for Cher (a future Legends I've Seen post). We had no idea what to expect from her and were blown away by her musical talents, voice and stage presence. Out of the hundreds of concerts I've seen, I believe she is the one who surprised me the most. Amazing performer.

I did it! I finished my 2009 New Years Resolution to try 52 new restaurants, diners, coffee shops and bakeries. I truly think this is the first resolution I've ever kept.
Thanks to all my friends for sticking with me and getting involved in the fun. And thanks to Mr. Chef (Mattie) for being the inspiration.
Tomorrow I'll post a list of all the food I ate. Going through the blogposts to make this list brought back such great memories. Time with friends, laughs, discussions, great food and new places.
When I started to look back, I wasn't expecting all the smiles, good thoughts and "oh yeah!" moments. I realized this experiment became much more than trying new places to eat.
It also gave me many wonderful memories.

Back in February 2009, I spent a day with Joan Rivers when she was doing an event for QVC and the Mall of America.
I was thrilled when a documentary crew following Joan asked to interview me. Of course I'd be interviewed! Not only was I interviewed, but the following interaction with Joan was all caught on film.
The crew's project turned into the film Joan Rivers - A Piece of Work. It's premiering at the Sundance Film Festival this week. I don't know if any of my scenes made the final cut of the film (the crew followed Joan for an entire year) but it was great to be part of the process.
If you do see the film, watch for my name in the final credits. I supplied some photos of various stages of Joan's career.

Filmed as a cinema verite documentary, the film reveals a rare glimpse of the comedic process and the toxic mixture of self-doubt and anger that often fuels it.
Joan’s story is both an outrageously funny journey and a brutally honest look at the ruthless entertainment industry, the trappings of success and the ultimate vulnerability of the life of a performer.
I wish I could make it to Sundace to see this! But, I'll have to wait. As I get more information, I'll pass it on.

Back in December, my friend and fashion jewelry designer, Kenneth Fron, interviewed me for his People Are Talking About blog series.
He asked me about my blog, Joan Rivers and my published book.
If you check out the link, let him know I sent you over!

Number of Concerts I've Attended:
Twice. I also had front-row-center tickets for The Supremes Reunion Tour (don't ask the cost). The tour was canceled one show before mine. I'm still bitter.
There are many of these moments during a Diana Ross concert. The Supremes' songs are magical to hear live. From her solo work, Ain't No Mountain High Enough created a frenzy.

A girl can wait for the right man to come along but in the meantime that still doesn't mean she can't have a wonderful time with all the wrong ones.
Who Said It:
I've lived with this philosophy my whole life!
